Welcome to my swim blog. It's all about my favorite past time and passion...swimming in the ocean, primarily in La Jolla, California, but also wherever the tides take me. I enjoy playing with and watching all marine critters: fish, birds, sea lions and even sharks. The ocean is my home. Welcome to my home!

Your Nose Is Running...

The Really Runny Nose Poem

Learn more about Sinuses and Sinusitis
Sinus cavities are a marvelous thing...that is until they run amok!
There are maxillary sinuses, frontal sinuses, sphenoid and ethmoid sinuses.  Any one of these, when flared, can stop you in your tracks.  But for me, it's a full blown symphony or nothing at all!

Many like and recommend the Neti Pot.  Does it work?  I've tried it...I prefer the ocean.  One good wave usually does the trick.  Whereas my swimming does seem to help (while I'm out there at least), I haven't had a decent night's sleep in three nights...so in honor of these gargantuan waves coming, I'm thinking of taking a day or two off.  Open to ideas...what works for you?

Big waves are coming to San Diego with a Coastal Flood Warning to all beach areas!  Check the surf reports on my weather links or call 619.221.8824 for the local surf report and...Know Before You Go!

  1. Awww..Im sorry you are feeling under the weather.. I agree the ocean makes one heck of a neti pot. In the meantime, try Advil Cold and Sinus..not the crap on the shelf..the one you have to ask for behind the counter. Its the stuff. I like to dose on Ester C and Airborn. Get plenty of rest and drink hot tea. That's all I got.

  2. Thanks my mermaid friend. I'm upping the vitamins as we speak and didn't go swimming today...just vegged and ate fruits.

  3. Ever have one of those swims where 4 or 5 hours after the fact, you bend over and (what seems like) the contents of a small ocean gushes out of those cavernous cavities? Oy!
