Welcome to my swim blog. It's all about my favorite past time and passion...swimming in the ocean, primarily in La Jolla, California, but also wherever the tides take me. I enjoy playing with and watching all marine critters: fish, birds, sea lions and even sharks. The ocean is my home. Welcome to my home!

The Cove Is Bustling With Excitment...

aren't they cute?
It's pupping season in La Jolla, but what does one get the expectant (or just delivered) Mom...seclusion!  The seal and sea lions don't mess with people, birds or other species taking too close a look at their babies.  The tourists oohs and ahhs are frequently interrupted by a very loud and compelling bark to steer clear, or else!  Might I suggest a bright fuzzy, plush, human-shaped snuggle chew-toy.  Oh.  You got the same thing?  LOL

I've never minded the sea lions.  They are as curious about me as I am about them, and to my knowledge, we've not had any bad mishaps in the Cove.  So far it's been a fairly pleasant coexistence...that is if you don't mind swimming in a sea lion cistern.  The mountains have yellow snow to contend with and we have...well, you know the rest.

If you want to visit the seals, they're down the street, on the right, at Children's Pool, past the seal rights fanatics...errr I mean activists.

Long swim today, for the ducks of it.  Didn't really intend to but found some garbage floating and so I stuffed it in the back of my swimsuit and made for the Tower, disposed of it and swam for home, watching the dolphin play half way back.  Oh, and thanks a lot for the increase in surf Neptune ol' boy...love ya.
