If I keep up my current rate, I'll have around 30mi by Thursday...then no swimming while I re-coup from surgery.
Saturday: again the water was 54F and the lake-like conditions continue...and so does the red tide or whatever is going on! We had a visit from a huge pod of dolphin. Saw a few white things zooming past (about 8-10in long). I'm beginning to think I've been out in the cold too long. I do like swimming in the morning. There is so much more to see...though it is warmer in the afternoon!

Sunday: we had a memorial swim for Kjell Fergusson, who died in a plane crash in Montana. The dolphin were in attendance and beckoning us out into the 54F degree water. We were treated to Jacuzzi and Breakfast afterward. Vicki is doing quite well. He was an adventurer and a gentleman.

Monday: the water seemed to want to warm up...54 on the inside and 56 out by the buoys. I did the 'tour de stick buoys' zigzagging back and forth with the currents and swells. Saw the white projectiles flying again...squid, I'm told. That's not what they looked like!

Tuesday: The sun is back! It makes a big difference on the mood of the swim when the water is so cold. NOAA is reporting 55F and there's supposed to be surf today...we'll see.
Well... no surf, but there was some texture and a good surge; 54-56F and FOG!

Wow! What a foggy swim this afternoon. Couldn't even see the sea lions! The girls wanted to stay close to the coast line and only did a 1/4 or so...I went back out after we all came in and the fog lessened just a bit. The sea lions were playing with this white bucket and left it, so I brought it in. I think they must have been keeping their champagne chillin in it (it is mating season you know). Went up to the Jacuzzi and when I came out, the fog was completely gone! (harrumph) I would've stayed out longer if there had been no fog. The sky line and rainbow was pretty cool though. Topped off the day with a massage from Isaak @ Healing Arts and Massage in PB (I highly recommend him)!

Wednesday: Got a lovely swim with Dana this afternoon and we were immediately aware of how much colder the water was...the guard sign said 54F but others were reporting 53F! We did the tour de stick buoys and saw a 'herd' of while jellies, not the stinging kind thankfully, but the cool, translucent pulsating kind. We treated ourselves to the Jacuzzi afterward.

Thursday: I'm feeling adventurous this morning and not going to check the water conditions before I go to the Cove! Yesterday, LG Eric said the surf was going to be getting better. The temp hasn't changed in quite a while so I'm just going to go for it...last swim before the surgery and a warm jacuzzi and massage to look forward to. :o) I arrived a bit after 9am and parked right next to Dan S. I can't think of his last name or perhaps never knew it...but he's a very nice guy and always smiling. As we were chatting, I noticed the usual 9am crowd leaving! Not these guys...they always swim so somethings up! Janet said the surf was just too much for them and they were going to swim the Shores instead. The sea lions weren't even around! Okay, now I'm curious, so Dan and I went down on deck to check things out. Temp: 53-54F consistantly, high tide, very poor viz, heavy surge and (wait for it) high surf...uh yeah! Oh Boy - It's play time! Ken joined us and off we went. It was fun! Swam a bit, played a bit, talked a bit and (this is the best part) freaked out the tourists a lot! LOL Came in and marched up to the Jacuzzi and then went over to see my favorite MT...ahhhhh! Alright, I'm relaxed and ready for the slice and dice now. Won't be able to swim for (they say) 2wks. we'll see how long that lasts! And then some face-to-face time up North with the family for Christmas. See y'all on the flip side...Merry Christmas.
