Welcome to my swim blog. It's all about my favorite past time and passion...swimming in the ocean, primarily in La Jolla, California, but also wherever the tides take me. I enjoy playing with and watching all marine critters: fish, birds, sea lions and even sharks. The ocean is my home. Welcome to my home!

LB Clothing Exchange and Naples Swim

This had to be one of the best weekends!  Beth's Clothing Exchange party in Long Beach was excuse enough to go through my old clothes...and for charity no less.  Met up Saturday night with my huge Ikea bag brimming with stuff.  It was hard to see everyone for the piles of clothes, shoes, scarves, hats, etc. let alone walk anywhere.  Women in various states of undress trying on skirts, evening wear with Harley boots, LV style outfits and jeans acting goofy and girlie and just having fun.  We all swore we were only donating and NOT going home with any of it (yeah right!).

Lynn and I spent the night and Beth arranged a swim around Naples Island the next morning from her friend, Anne's lovely home.  This would be the 1st time for me swimming Naples and only the 3rd time swimming 3 miles!  And as luck would have it, with a kayak escort, namely our hostess herself!  We figured the water was probably about 59-60F with some delicious warm spots...not even going to thing about what created said warm spots (ugh).  Such beautiful homes, and boats and tons of kayakers, crew, canoers...nearly getting run over by a kid in a sabot!  Luckily Beth gave heads up.  A buoy tried to run me over and near the end I kept wandering into the wrong slip.  Can't blame a girl for trying...I was done in.  It was a wonderful weekend with wonderful people...if only they didn't live so far away.
