Warning issued at 15:40 Friday (JST) Tokyo Time. There has been a very large 8.9 earthquake off the East coast of Honshu. A tsunami warning is in effect for much of the Pacific. 4m to 10m tsunamis have hit the nearby coast of Japan. By 13:00 UTC much smaller waves have reached parts of Indonesia and the Philippines. The map indicates predicted travel times. The earthquake struck at 05:46 UTC
