Welcome to my swim blog. It's all about my favorite past time and passion...swimming in the ocean, primarily in La Jolla, California, but also wherever the tides take me. I enjoy playing with and watching all marine critters: fish, birds, sea lions and even sharks. The ocean is my home. Welcome to my home!

York Peppermint Patties' Got Nothin On Us Lately!

Friday November 26 Sunset @ the Cove
It was a brisk one!  Hit about 56-58F, but the sun shone brightly on our backs as we swam in Lake-like conditions for double miles again today in the LJCSC's Winter Swim (Samoa).  I was surprised to see the muffins, coffee, etc already set up on deck when I got there a little after 8am and was told I could go ahead a swim as no one knew if anyone had the key for the mdse and tables.  I really wanted to go to the Tower at the Shores (2.0mi) but Natalie had just finished and was nearly blue.  She reported 56-57F and was shivering badly after 1.5mi!  An old friend from SWC (Oscar) showed up with Ivan.  I didn't know Ivan knew him and didn't know he swam!  Small world.  Nice to see more happy faces (esp ones I know).  First the big toe went in...hmmmm, that's not that bad.  Knees, wrists and waissssstttt....wow that's an eye opener!!  hah hahhhaah...okay, I'm committed (or need to be!).  Went to the 1/2 and made the decision to do the Tower RT.  Glad I did.  Viz was crystal clear again and worth the frozen toes.  Went up to the mdse tent, but they had it covered.  Not many hanging around to buy stuff today.  I got a new raspberry fleece jacket and promptly put it on...now if I can only find an IV for this coffee!  According to the Surf Report, a storm is due to come in tonight and with it, big waves...surf's up!
2.0mi x2 = 4.0mi
