| Birds as Art by Arthur Morris |
Today, RUTH! and I met for a nice long, cruise in near perfect conditions: Sunny skies, 67.8-68.4F water temp, murky viz in some areas but fairly clear out by the A, B buoys. After a quick chat with Mr. Chill and his lovely news entourage, Carol, at the A buoy, we passed a cropping of giant bull kelp and on it was an Elegant Tern (Sterna elegans or Thalasseus elegans), a near threatened water bird I had never seen before. As we approached, he (a young mating male), showed no signs of wanting to fly off. How I wish I had my camera today!
