Lately, I've been seeing a few of these lovelies on my swims. They are not the least bit afraid of passing swimmers and will have a chat with you if you have the time! Both Elegant Terns and Royal Terns stop by the kelp beds, rocks and low tides in La Jolla. This is the first year I've witnessed them! Note: Elegant terns have a full black cap and the Royals have a more punk monk version.
